Greatest pleasures are sometimes the simplest! Mine at this moment is to lay on the bed of the little beach poussada we are renting for the next 10 days. It’s 20:15, the night fell 3 hours ago and just before it did, we were driving, searching for both ATM and some place to have diner. It sounds pretty simple as a evening plan unless you do not find what you are looking for and end up in the middle of nowhere, on a dark road full of pot holes and eventually find yourself replacing a punctured tyre! This is the moment you do realise that the advice about NOT hiring a car in Brazil was not that stupid after all! We are 20 kms away from our room, I do not speak local lingo and my phone does not receive any usable network… then, you are relieved that the car equipment included all the necessary items to get back on the road, you drive super slowly, praying that nothing else is going to happen and finally, you reach your destination that, because of this turn of event has become a haven of comfort… I must add that instead of a nice restaurant on the beach, we settled for a full tank of petrol, a bottle of water, two chicken empanadas, two slices of local banana / coconut cake and a coffee… all that in a petrol station with a working ATM… mission accomplished!
